Italian Cuisine

History of Italy

Italian food history
Italy's wide range of flavors and tastes probably has a lot to do with the countries that surround it. Places such as Austria, the former Yugoslavia and France had a major impact on the foods Italians typically enjoyed. When the economy began to thrive following World War II, the country began to change dramatically. Farming become more modern and different ways of cooking became more common because of the many people who started moving to the city. Lots of people from southern Italy migrated north and the Northern Italians finally experienced pizza. There is a strong sense of pride in the individual region and this is celebrated throughout Italy.
